Did you know that JDRF has a Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes program that you can easily hold at your child’s school?
We are excited to continue the School Teams Program in conjunction with the Walk to Cure Diabetes, to fuel additional dollars for diabetes research. The School Teams Program has been successfully implemented in various Metro Elementary Schools. The program is simple: it provides an opportunity for students to learn about type 1 and type 2 diabetes, while at the same time raising funds to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes, with the school receiving 10% of the money raised for their P.E. or Wellness programs. Students have an opportunity to help other kids with diabetes raise money to find a cure, and also earn prizes!
Here are some highlights of the program:
The program is fully implemented by JDRF staff and volunteers.
JDRF leads assemblies for school (split up by classes or grades).
Students are given a collection envelope and 10 sneakers to sell. They have two weeks to fundraise.
Money and sneakers are turned into the school contact.
Walk on school campus is held two weeks after assembly.
Awards presentation held one week after walk.
Schools are eligible to receive 10% of the money fundraised
